The Stone in brown is a natural imitation of a stonefly nymph. It is unweighted and can be fished in any depth of water, with or without split shot. One of the best fishing flies during or before a stonefly hatch. A good approach with this trout fly is to tie it below a dry with a foot or so of light tippet. Let it swing or float in a dead drift and be ready to set the hook when the dry twitches or submerges. This nymph is many guide’s top fly pattern for its natural imitation of stonefly nymphs.
