This pattern is a great trout fly for all rivers and streams, with natural barring as well as naturally dark colors. Claret is a great color for imitating blue wing olive nymphs in the early spring as the water temperature begins to warm up. A great fishing fly to tie on in the early spring or fall, just as blue wing olives emerge from the surface. In larger sizes this can also be great for the larger brown drake in spring and early summer.
