Dave’s Hopper in green is phenomenal fishing fly for imitating spent grasshoppers. These bugs are often found in shades of green which is why it’s good to have a few patterns like this in your dry fly box. Casting these on light tippet with a dead drift is always a good strategy for summertime fly fishing. In a good terrestrial dry fly box, there must be ants, beetles, stoneflies, and of course, hoppers like this one. Be sure to have a mixed dozen on your person to match the exact size of bugs in the area.
