The Elk Hares Hopper is one of the best flies to use as an attractor pattern. When hoppers are around, this fly does it’s job best. It floats well and is excellent at holding up nymphs in a dry-dropper rig. You can also tie on smaller and more subtle dry flies behind it with light tippet for a double-dry rig. Cast these flies with a bit of floatant across areas that look fishy. Behind rocks and close to the bank. You’ll often stir up the fish and they will rise to swallow this fly whole.
